About The Glades

Title: The Glades
Author: Angela Hunt
Publisher: Hunt Haven Press
Release Date: October 13, 2026
Genre: Suspense Thriller

When Katherine Armstrong arranges a birthday weekend on her husband's private island in the Everglades, she plans for everything: the guest list, the menu, the flowers, the careful distance between herself and the dark water beyond the dock.

She does not plan for the storm.

By nightfall, the power is gone, the mainland is unreachable, and something in the mangrove shadows has begun to move. Katherine has spent years building a life that looks flawless from the outside. Now, with her children beside her and the water on every side, she will have to decide what that life was actually worth.

Sixty years earlier, a World War II veteran named Conrad Boone made a decision on these same waters — one that seemed containable, even necessary, at the time. He passed the consequence of that decision to his family. They learned to live with it. And the island learned to keep its secrets.

Until the storm.

About Angela Hunt

Angela Hunt

Christy-Award winner Angela Hunt writes for readers who have learned to expect the unexpected in novels from this versatile author. With nearly six million copies of her books sold worldwide, she is the best-selling author of more than 160 works ranging from picture books (The Tale of Three Trees) to novels and nonfiction.

Now that her two children are grown, Angie and her husband live in Florida with Very Big Dogs (a direct result of watching Sandlot too many times). This affinity for mastiffs has not been without its rewards--one of their dogs was featured on Live with Regis and Kelly as the second-largest canine in America. Their dog received this dubious honor after an all-expenses-paid trip to Manhattan for the dog and the Hunts, complete with VIP air travel and a stretch limo in which they toured New York City. Afterward, the dog gave out paw-tographs at the airport.

When she's not home writing, Angie often travels to teach writing workshops at schools and writers' conferences. And to talk about her dogs, of course.

Guest Post by Angela Hunt

Being a Florida native, I have come to appreciate my home state for its many quirks and its wildlife. There’s only one animal that gives me nightmares—alligators—but that might be because I live near Alligator Creek and Alligator Lake, and those aren’t mere names. They are home to those ferocious reptiles who routinely eat cats, dogs, and people who venture too close when an animal is hungry.

I was taken aback recently when I saw a YouTube video that proclaimed that Nile crocodiles had entered the Everglades, the huge nature preserve in the lower part of our state. The Everglades have already been devastated by pythons, another non-native animal that has eaten nearly all of our smaller mammals like rabbits, racoons, even deer. So the thought of another invasive creature, especially one at the top of the food chain, was enough to make me shiver.

So I did some research and discovered that yes, a couple of Nile crocodiles have been found in the Everglades, but wildlife officials think they got them all. Ha.  We’ll see.

But after doing that research, I realized that it would take time for a breeding pair to grow to maturity and actually begin to breed. So if I wanted to write a story about how Nile crocs came to be in the Everglades, I’d actually have to do a dual-time novel, showing the animals when they arrived, and later, when they are beginning to do damage.  So that’s what I did.

I love writing suspense, though most of mine aren’t the usual bad-guy-chases good-guy type of story. The “villain” in The Glades isn’t necessarily the crocodiles, either—they’re just doing what crocs do. No, the villain is a man who brought the crocs in because he liked them, and because he imagined himself to be an apex predator. Unfortunately, another family paid the price for his hubris as the years passed.

Whenever I write a story for the world at large (not specifically for believers), my Christian worldview always comes through, but this isn’t a Christian life story as much as it’s a morality tale about hubris and arrogance and silence in the face of wrongdoing. There’s a message for believers here, but there’s a message for the world, too.

I loved writing it, I loved learning about the Miccosukee natives who lives near the Everglades, and if I ever go down there, I’ll be sure to bring my camera, a watchful friend, and a gallon of mosquito repellant.

And I hope that you will enjoy being on the edge of your seat, and carry thoughts about the lessons of the Glades with you as you go on your way.

About Sanctuary and Sabotage

Title: Sanctuary and Sabotage
Series: Guarded Hearts #2
Author: Lori DeJong
Publisher: Scrivenings Press
Release Date: September 15, 2026
Genre: Romantic Suspense

The greatest threat isn’t the enemy outside—it’s the secrets between them.

Security Specialist Trevor Paxton returns to his Texas hometown searching for sanctuary after the death of a colleague under his leadership. The family ranch should be a place to regroup, recover, and make peace with the past.

Instead, it leads him straight back to Kinsley Talbot.

The freckle-faced tomboy he remembers is now a beautiful, determined veterinarian fighting to protect her clinic, her family’s land, and a future built on faith and grit. Trevor never expected to fall for the sister of his boyhood best friend, but the more time he spends with Kinsley, the harder it is to walk away.

When her clinic is sabotaged and danger closes in, Trevor’s instincts tell him the attack is no accident. Kinsley is holding something back, and though she refuses his offer to involve his security agency, Trevor knows the threat is too serious to ignore.

As Kinsley begins to trust him with her heart, Trevor makes a choice that could shatter that trust. Working behind the scenes may be the only way to keep her safe, but Kinsley has a secret of her own, and the truth between them may be as dangerous as the enemy closing in.

Perfect for fans of Robin Patchen, Lynn H. Blackburn, and Dee Henderson, Sanctuary and Sabotage is a Christian romantic suspense novel filled with small-town danger, buried secrets, and a Texas mystery where love and trust are tested under fire.

Guest Post by Lori DeJong

A Day in the Life of Kinsley Talbot, female protagonist in Sanctuary and Sabotage

Kinsley’s days tend to begin early. Really early. There are horses to check, cattle that need attention, ranch calls to make, and enough coffee to convince her that she really did choose this profession willingly.

She’s a large-animal veterinarian, which means her office doesn’t always have four walls and a receptionist. Sometimes it’s her treatment barn. Sometimes it’s a surgical suite. And sometimes it’s her specialized veterinary truck parked in a pasture while a very large, very opinionated animal decides if it intends to cooperate. And because animals have a remarkable ability to need medical attention at the least convenient possible moment, she never really knows what her day will bring.

Fortunately, she has Charley.

Her cousin and business partner is also her best friend, which means Charley is the person Kinsley can count on to keep her schedule on track, take care of the business, and all the other things life tends to throw at her. She’s also the person who knows when Kinsley is trying to pretend everything is fine when it definitely isn’t.

And these days, there’s a lot that isn’t.

Take Kinsley’s brother. He has a gambling problem, and his latest round of bad decisions has landed him in serious trouble. He borrowed money from the wrong people, and now he’s running from the consequences.

Which means Kinsley has something else to worry about between ranch calls and veterinary emergencies: whether her brother is safe—and whether the people looking for him will find her first.

Then there’s Trevor.

Sixteen years ago, he left for the Army, breaking her teenage heart. She never expected to see him again, much less find him helping out at the clinic every day, going with her on calls, talking as if those sixteen years hadn’t happened.

But they did happen. They changed both of them.

And yet, somehow, the connection from their childhood is still there. Maybe stronger than it should be.

Trevor has returned to Kinsley’s life at a time when she really doesn’t have room for complications. And Trevor himself may be the biggest complication of all. They’ve become close, and there are moments when she wonders if what they’re feeling is more than friendship.

The problem? He’s not staying. And she knows better than to give her heart to a man who might disappear from her life a second time.

At least, she should know better.

So, imagine Kinsley’s day: a morning call to a ranch, a horse that refuses to cooperate, back to the clinic with patients waiting, answer a dozen questions, get enough dirt on her Hokas to make cleaning them a lost cause, and Charley reminding her that she forgot to eat lunch again.

Then Trevor shows up at exactly the wrong—or perhaps exactly the right—moment.

Somewhere in the middle of all that, her phone rings. It’s her brother. Or it’s someone looking for him.

Suddenly, the ordinary problems of her day seem a whole lot less important. Because when the people she loves are in danger, Kinsley doesn’t know how to stand on the sidelines.

That’s true when it comes to an injured animal. It’s true when it comes to her brother. And it’s definitely true when it comes to Trevor.

But there’s something she’s learning that may be harder than any veterinary procedure she’s ever performed: she can’t fix everything. She can’t make her brother’s choices for him. She can’t control who is coming after him. And she certainly can’t decide whether Trevor stays or goes.

She can only choose what she will do with the circumstances God has placed in front of her. And sometimes, trusting God means taking the next step even when you have absolutely no idea what’s waiting around the corner.

For Kinsley, that next step might involve a ranch call, a frightened horse, a dangerous man, or the man she never expected to love again.

And knowing Kinsley, she’ll probably face all four before lunch.

Author Interview with Darlene L. Turner

What is something interesting readers would enjoy learning about you?

DLT: I love going to the movies by myself! When I finish a proposal, manuscript or some other milestone, I sometimes treat myself to a movie during the day. Such fun! Wait, I just passed in my next book. Any good movies playing?

What makes up your ideal reading environment?

DLT: Give me a cozy log cabin in the woods overlooking the lake with majestic mountains as the backdrop. I’m in my jammies, coffee cup in hand, sitting in front of the fire with a great book! Oh…of course, I’m snuggled in a plaid plush blanket! Perfection. Although, knowing me…I’m probably wondering what’s lurking in the woods outside the door. ?

What was your favorite scene to write in this story? And why?

DLT: I think one of my favorite scenes to write was when the Shadow Box Killer leads Aurora and Kordell into the basement (no! don’t go into the basement! ? ) of an abandoned creepy psychiatric institute where SBK forces Kordell to tell Aurora his darkest secret or else she’ll die. Lots of emotions in that scene.

What unique research was required to write this story?

DLT: Different types of ciphers and how they work. So fun and interesting. There are  many!

What was the inspiration behind your story?

DLT: I’ve had this story in my head for years, and I’m so glad it’s finally coming to life! It started when I first read about “geocaching” and that sparked the idea of boxes (aka caches). I thought it would be fun to include the same sort of game in a thriller. Mind you, the story evolved a little differently and my game isn’t quite like geocaching, but that’s where it all started.

What encouragement do you hope readers will take away from your story?

DLT: We are beacons in this world of darkness. I pray that readers see through the pages of Coordinates of Death that no matter what rough storms we go through, God will be with us in the darkness and make us stronger.
