For today’s Sunday Dinner author interview, I invited Janice Cantore to talk about One Final Target, a Romantic Suspense.

A former Long Beach, California, police officer of twenty-two years, Janice Cantore now writes suspense novels designed to keep readers engrossed and leave them inspired. She lives near the Gulf Coast in Florida. She loves swimming, bike riding, golf, and walking her dogs, Abbie and Tilly.
One Final Target is set to release February 13, 2024. It follows her previous novels, Code of Courage, Breach of Honor, Crisis Shot, Lethal Target, Cold Aim, Drawing Fire, Burning Proof, Catching Heat, Critical Pursuit, Visible Threat, Accused, Abducted, and Avenged.
Sunday Dinner is a traditional (noon) meal served after church on Sundays. Whole families, including extended family, would gather over a large meal to celebrate a day of rest. Multiple cultures enjoy this Sunday Dinner tradition. In my experience, I know it from both my Midwestern farm family as well as my Italian-American family. Now, I’d like to bring Sunday Dinner virtually to you. So, pull up a chair as we invite various guests to join us each week!

Ten Questions
Tell us something interesting readers would enjoy learning about you.
People often ask me if I model my main characters after myself, and if some of the adventures in my books were things I experienced. Sadly, I have to say no, in general police work is not as exciting in real life as it is in books. The only exception would be riots. I was involved in policing the Rodney King riots, so when I wrote the riot scene in Code of Courage, I drew on real life experience.
Can you tell us about your latest novel?
One Final Target - "Two wounded heros shattered by grief and paralyzed by guilt must find their footing and work together to catch a killer."
In what city is your story set and why did you choose to set your novel there?
Long Beach, Green Valley Lake, Arrowbear - I worked in Long Beach and I lived in Green Valley Lake for a while.
Describe your setting. And, if it's a real place, have you visited?
It's starts in the San Bernardino Mountains, a place I called home for a few years, and it moves down to Long Beach, Ca, a place I worked for 22 years.

What research was required to set a book there?
I had to do research in bomb making and using Apple Air tags.
What does a day in the life of one of your characters look like?
Dodging bullets, bombs, and catching a killer!
Were resources easy or difficult to find on these topics? Do you have a favorite resource?
I usually use Google unless I know someone who has an expertise it the subject. Looking up bomb making on the internet was surprisingly easy.
Do you have any research that you couldn’t include in the book, but wish readers could know?
No.
Do you have another book in the works? What can you tell us about that book?
Yes, my work in progress is tentatively titled Buried Secrets. It's about a woman, Hanna Keyes, who never knew her father, he was convicted of a double murder when she was just three months old and sentenced to life in prison. Thirty five years into his sentence, he has terminal cancer. The department of corrections wants to compassionately parole her father into her custody so that he can die at home. Hanna is a Christian, how can she say no? She has never known the man they say is her father, how can she say yes?
Is there anything else you’d like readers to know?
I love readers and I give away books often. Catch up with me on Facebook!
