Make it Monday | An Update

Books Review, General, Make it Monday, The Family, Updates, Writing Spot

Make it Monday, my weekly blog post about creative ways to practice self-care, will be on hiatus until March. Why? Well, because self-care is necessary with Baby Boy #2 set to arrive in about 4 weeks!

Reading Wednesday Book Reviews will continue on through because reading is a great way to practice self-care. More on that when Make it Monday returns on March 2, also known as Dr. Suess’ birthday and National Read Across America Day.

184 Days of Motherhood

Family, Personal Thoughts, Personally, The Family, Updates, Writing Spot

Six months ago today, my husband and I welcomed our baby boy into our lives. That day changed many things, as new babies do, but it also opened the door for much self-learning. The past 184 days have held challenge and joy, weakness and strength. Motherhood isn’t for the faint of heart, but the smile on my little guy’s face makes it all worth it.

This past week, I returned to work after my maternity leave. It’s a juggling act, as all moms know, but I love my job and I’m excited to be back at it. With being a working mom fresh on my plate, I thought I’d write down a few thoughts on the subject.

Conversations with Wisconsin Artists Interview

The Vanishing Kidnapper, Thoughts on Writing, Updates, Writing Spot

Last week, I was interviewed by Rex Owens during Conversations with Wisconsin Artists on Sun Prairie’s KSUN 103.5 The hour long program airs twice a month and features people with a variety of artistic expertise.

During my interview, I spoke about what inspired me to write my fist novel, The Vanishing Kidnapper, as well as my experience with Intercultural Communication. I also shared about my work coaching students and teens on how to improve their writing.

It was a great experience and a fun conversation. If you missed it, you can find the recording here.

Thank you, again, to Rex and the KSUN studio for having me.

Rejection can be incredibly painful. In the writing world, it can sometimes be even more so. Our written words come from inside of us, the story we tell, and having it rejected or critiqued is like purposefully baring our souls to the lash.
