Back to School Christian Fiction Scavenger Hunt – Stop #14

Blog Tour, Christian Fiction, Writing Spot

Welcome to the inaugural Back to School Christian Fiction Scavenger Hunt. We hope that throughout this hunt, you discover some new books and get to know a little more about us.

A few things before you begin

This hunt is a blog hop. Collect the “clues” (pieces to the longer phrase) at each stop. Enter the individual giveaways along the way, then click on the link to the next stop and repeat until you reach #28, where you will input the full phrase as your entry to the grand prize drawing.

The hunt begins August 30, 2023, at noon EST and ends September 4, 2023, at midnight EST, so you have plenty of time to visit each stop. If you need to step away and come back later, make a note of the last stop you visited, and go to this post with the list of all stops on the hunt.

If you are having trouble viewing the posts, you may need to switch browsers. Chrome and Firefox sometimes work better than Microsoft Explorer or Edge.

All about secrets

As part of this event, I’m giving away a copy of Confessions to a Stranger, the first book in my Harbored in Crow’s Nest series.

Where did the inspiration behind this historical romantic suspense come from? My background, including my graduate degree, is in communication and culture. One aspect of communication that I have always found fascinating is how often we share more than we might otherwise with near stranger, whether online, on airplanes, or in other places where we might meet people who we’ll never see again.

On the other hand, with people who we see more often, we are less likely to share those secrets. Thus, the premise behind Confessions to a Stranger was born. What if … a stranger arrived in a small town only for the residents to share their deepest secrets with her? And, what if one of those secrets—or her own—could cost her life?

If you’re as fascinated as I am by this phenomena, I recommend the article by Lydia Denworth and Brian Waves, “The Paradox of Confiding in (near) Strangers,” Psychology Today, September 28, 2017.

Before you jot down my stop’s clue, be sure to check out the additional giveaway below. I’m offering a seagull tote bag related to Confessions to a Stranger. First, here’s a little more about the book itself …

Confessions to a Stranger

Secrets abound in this suspenseful, fish-out-of-water, Depression-era romance. According to one Goodreads review, “if you’re looking for a story that has the most delightful blend of mystery, suspense, love, … and finding home, look no further.”

She’s lost her future. He’s sacrificed his. Now they have a chance to reclaim it—together.

Wisconsin, 1930—While fleeing for her life, Adaleigh Sirland’s rescue of a child introduces her to a family who provides her safe harbor. When her identity comes under threat of exposure, she must choose between running once more or helping the man who teaches her to hope again.

First mate David Martins is intrigued by the mysterious woman taken in by his grandmother, but she wrestles with a troubled past. When his estranged father is arrested for murder, can David put aside his own struggles in time to discern which secret threatens Adaleigh before it kills them both?

Welcome to Crow’s Nest, where danger and romance meet at the water’s edge.
