DANIELLE’S REVIEW

I always enjoy a Love Inspired story, so I often look no further than the cover when I pick one. It also means I sometimes skip the back cover description before reading the book. With the shorter story, it let’s me experience all feels from the very first sentence. This time, doing so gave me a fantastic surprise since I hadn’t anticipated such a bookish male lead. A history teacher no less! How awesome, right? Not to mention, as a history nerd myself, I loved the character right from the get go.

The female lead took me an extra chapter in order for me to get comfortable with her, likely because of my connection with the male lead, who had similar feelings. Understanding the foster situation took some explanation, for both the male lead and me, but once I understood, it all made perfect sense. I loved that the author delved into the challenging side of foster care. The heartbreaking realness of the situation added depth to the story.

It didn’t take long for both characters to fully work their way into my heart so that I was rooting for them, and the little boy that drew them together, all the way to the end. And, with the knowledge of how Love Inspired stories always wrap up, it let me enjoy the ride.

So .. if you’re looking for a story about foster care, teaching, and overcoming a difficult past, this story is for you.

  1. This sounds like a heart-warming story, which I’d love to read. I found Danielle’s comment helpful–“So .. if you’re looking for a story about foster care, teaching, and overcoming a difficult past, this story is for you.”
