Obsession by Patricia Bradley is the second book in her Natchez Trace Park Rangers series. Emma Winters is Brooke’s best friend, who stared in the first book in the series, Standoff. Emma works as a Natchez Trace Ranger, but not in law enforcement. She’s a historian who wants to map an historical landmark.
When her project brings her under gunfire, she must accept the help of her ex-fiance, Sam Ryker. Sam doesn’t want to get close to the woman who broke his heart, but he can’t help how much he desires to protect her. Especially when it becomes obvious she has a stalker.
Emma and Sam are great characters. It’s easy to like them and their personal struggles are real without being intrusive to the story. The author also does a fantastic job of making the stalker a real threat without revealing his identity. And the pace at which the characters figured things out was perfect.
If you enjoy romantic suspense, definitely pick up a copy of Obsession. You don’t need to read book one first either, though I highly recommend it.
