Dead End is book three in Susan Sleeman’s Truth Seeker series. Of all Susan’s books that I have read so far – and there have been quite a few – Reed and Sierra quickly rose to my top favorite characters. Dead End is their story.
From the start, Reed and Sierra recognize the attraction they have for one another. However, their first interaction is less than romantic. Reed, an FBI agent, arrests Sierra when he catches her alone in the office of the man he is chasing. Sierra has good reason to be there. She just learned her true parentage and is looking for her birth father. The very man Reed plans to charge with embezzlement.
With their acquaintanceship settled on the rocky foundation of mistrust, Reed and Sierra must decide whether to join forces or work alone. Reed won’t let Sierra out of his side for both personal and professional reasons. Sierra couldn’t care less. Other than being frazzled by the handsome agent, she is on a mission and plans to find her dad. And prove him innocent if she can.
Reed and Sierra’s adventure takes them into multiple crime scenes. As a forensic specialist, Sierra refuses to trust anyone else with gathering evidence. Reed echos readers’ (or at least my) fascination with her process, asking Sierra all the questions we want to know about her work. It was an eye-opening peek into the world of forensics.
The question is, can those clues lead Sierra to her father? If she does, with Reed dogging her every step, will she end up bringing the law down on her birth dad? Or will danger catch up to Sierra, leaving her the victim of the type of crime she excels at solving?
If you’re looking for a fast-past story with great forensic detail and fun characters, definitely pick up Dead End. I loved it!
