Cold Terror, by Susan Sleeman, is the first book in her Cold Harbor romantic suspense series. When forensic artist Hannah Perry is attacked at a remote cottage, she and her son David escape in a boat that capsizes before reaching shore. Ex-SEAL Gage Blackwell rescues the mother and child only to realize Hannah is the woman he walked out on a decade ago.

When Hannah’s attacker keeps coming after her, Gage insists on providing protection. After all, he runs Blackwell Tactical, a protection service operation made up of ex-military and ex-law enforcement. However, his motivations run much deeper. 20190227_084353

Once upon a time, Gage and Hannah had loved each other deeply, but after Gage left, both married and had children. Now, Gage has lost his wife, leaving him with a daughter who is still suffering from the effects of the accident that killed her mother. Hannah is widowed as well, but her past stays close in her rearview mirror.

With an expertly trained enemy after her, Hannah and Gage desperately try to stay one step ahead while uncovering the identity of the man who wants Hannah dead. But Hannah realizes her heart is on the line as well. Can she trust the man who left her so long ago?

Susan Sleeman has become one of my favorite romantic suspense authors. She has a way of bringing to life a team while focusing on only two members at a time. I also appreciate how each character’s struggle with God feels personal to that character.

Cold Terror is a great book to read on a snowy afternoon with nowhere to go because once it hooks you, you will want to read until the end.

I received this book free from the author in order to provide an honest review. I was not required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
