Reading Wednesday | Louisiana Longshot

Books Review, Cozy Mystery, Writing Spot

I’m not usually fond of e-books. I have a lot of screen time for work, so reading a paper book is much easier. However, unexpectedly finding myself with a bit of free time one weekend, I scanned through the free Nook books and discovered Louisiana Longshot by Jana DeLeon. I loved it!

With a price on her head, CIA assassin Fortune Redding is forced into hiding. Taking the identity of a recently deceased woman’s niece, she arrives in Sinful, Louisiana to sort through the woman’s property. Only, her attempt at keeping a low-profile is undermined when a dead body turns up in the backyard. IMG_20180709_084020

Soon she is roped into helping two older ladies prove the innocence of their friend. Each adventure, however, lands her in trouble with the deputy, a handsome ex-marine. The deeper she gets, the harder it is for her to maintain the ex-beauty queen identity, but blowing her cover would bring hitmen to her doorstep.

Louisiana Longshot was a delightful cozy mystery full of intrigue and humor. It’s pacing kept me turning the pages and wishing I had time for just one more chapter. I’ve already picked up book two to find out what happens next.
