A romance awaits in the highlands of Scotland. China MacLeish and Duncan Sinclair, Laird of Fionnloch, each suffer heartbreak as their unfaithful partners leave them. When China, currently a resident of Chicago, learns of an inheritance left to her by an unknown uncle, she travels to Fionnloch, which begins a series of events that may heal many a broken heart.

Love Inherited, a highland romance by Cristine Eastin, takes readers to the gloomy shores of Scotland. China must untangle her new inheritance, which requires her to live in her uncle’s hunting lodge for a whole year. While there, she begins to uncover secrets to her past. 20180627_110739

Confused and angry, she finds a friend in her housekeeper Sylvie Blair and her neighbor and laird Duncan Sinclair. With their help, she begins to see the beauty that resides in Fionnloch. She is especially taken with one of her horses and her foal. But finding love is not a straight path and when the year is up, she must decide whether to stay in Scotland or leave her past behind.

Love Inherited is both a Christian and a clean romance. This allows the story to focus on the relational tension more than the physical. I also appreciated how the more religious aspects were incredibly personal to each character, whether they believed or not, as well as how they expressed those beliefs. I did find the beginning a tad rushed, but overall I enjoyed the slow build of the relationships. Would it be enough for China to stay in Scotland?

If you are in the mood for a romance set in the highlands of Scotland, Love Inherited might be the book for you.
