Is dinnertime at your home more like a professional wrestling match? The Dinosaurs are here to help. Dinner for Dinos, illustrated by Ben Whitehouse, is a delightful board book about a group of dinosaurs and their dinner plans.

The dinos are excited about their picnic. First they grocery shop, then they cook, then they eat. Along the way, however, they debate the value of greens, all help with getting the food ready, and even practice good manners at the table. 20180627_110752

For the most part, the rhythm and rhyme of each page rolls off the tongue in a fun cadence meant to be read aloud. The pictures are colorful and each dinosaur unique. The book itself is both sturdy and flexible, important aspects for young readers.

As a mom, I have one point I am disappointed the authors failed to include: clean-up. The dinos teach eating greens and setting the table, even not burping during dinner, but afterward, they leave their empty plates unattended.

Overall, Dinner for Dinos is a cute story to show children the fun side of dinner. And what could be more fun then dinosaurs at a picnic?
