Reading Wednesday|Wedding Cake Crumble

Books Review, Cozy Mystery, Mystery, Writing Spot

June is wedding month, so what’s more fun than reading books with a wedding theme? Wedding Cake Crumble is the tenth installment of Jenn McKinnlay‘s Cupcake Bakery Mystery series. For fans of the series, it wraps up a storyline that has traveled through all ten books. Yes, two of our favorite characters are planning their big day. But will murder derail the wedding?

If you have not read the series yet, this book has a major spoiler alert. Until now, we don’t know if these two characters will ever get married. Then again, when their wedding photographer is murdered, perhaps the wedding won’t happen after all.20180416_104321

Mel, the main character in the Cupcake Bakery series, might be the most behaved in this book. Instead of doggedly looking for trouble, she actually tries hard to avoid it. She doesn’t want to mess up the wedding. But when an author is murdered and her friend is arrested, she tries her best to help clear her friend’s name while still getting to the church on time.

Jenn McKinlay creates a fun read with enjoyable characters. I have enjoyed all ten books in the Cupcake Bakery series and book ten is a great addition. If you haven’t read them all, I would definitely recommend starting with Sprinkle with Murder, book one, to fully appreciated Wedding Cake Crumble.
