Personal Thoughts

Just the other day, I was thinking to myself how stressed I was feeling. If only it would snow, I’d feel better. And so, to all those Chicagoians, I guess I’ll take credit for asking for the snow that now covers the ground.

This past week, God reminded me that I had placed that request. It was His way of telling me, “Hey, I’m still here, still listening, still caring. Even if you think I’m not.” And yes, I was thinking just that.

It has caused me to marvel how God cares for each of us so specifically. He’s an Infinite Being that actually cares about the little things in our lives. When things are going wrong, the bills are piling up, and we aren’t sure how we are going to make it through the week, the month, the rest of the year, there He is, showing us that we can trust Him.

Trust is such a moment by moment, step by step exercise. I can feel my faith muscles growing. Especially when I say, “I can’t do this.” And God said, “I know. But don’t you see, I’m here for you.” But I reply, “Yeah, so You’re here, but I don’t like the situation.” And God just smiles and sends a blessing. “See, I do care.” I knew that, but it sure feels good to experience it.

It brings to mind a verse in 2 Timothy chapter 2, verse 13: “If we are faithless, He remains faithful; He cannot deny Himself.” And so, I will enjoy my snow, whether sparkling in the sun, caked onto street signs and tree limbs, or dirty from the road. In the end, I know that God used it to remind me that He loves me.

May you experience His love throughout this Christmas Season.
